Karunanidhi turns 89

Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and chief of the DMK, M Karunanidhi today celebrated his 89th birthday in Chennai. Speaking to media persons, party workers said that Karunanidhi's birthday is a joyous occasion for the whole party. Earlier today, Karunanidhi paid his respects at the memorials of his mentors, DMK founder CN Annadurai and EV Ramasamy. The DMK has been in a political turmoil in the past few years with its ministers, including his daughter, Kanimozhi being involved in the multi-billion 2G scam.
