Maoists blow up school building in Jharkhand

A suspected group of Maoists blew up a high school building at Kanda village in Palamu district of Jharkhand on Saturday. The blast came before the 24-hour shutdown called by Maoists in eastern India. The police said a group of Maoists targeted the school building with explosives just prior to midnight. The rising attacks by the rebels have left the locals scared. More than 400 people have died in Maoist insurgency this year alone that has been simmering for four decades.
