Panchayat polls underway in West Bengal

First phase of the three-tier Panchayat polls or the village council elections is underway in eastern West Bengal on Sunday, May 11 amid tight security. Five districts of the state including the conflict stricken Nandigram, East and West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura and Vardhaman went to polls today. People turned out in large numbers to cast their votes.
