Devout Hindus across India celebrated the festival of Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Rama on Wednesday. In northern parts of India, the festival also marked the end of the nine-day fasting and Navaratri festival. At Ayodhya, regarded as the birthplace of Rama in Uttar Pradesh, hundreds of devotees took holy dip in River Saryu and visited temples to offer special prayers on the occasion.
