Recession leads to decreased remittances from NRIs in Punjab

The global economic recessionary trends and also the recent terror attack in Mumbai have resulted in lesser remittances by the non-resident Indians or NRIs to their native places in Punjab. Punjab is a hub of NRIs, where almost every third house has one or more of its family members working in foreign shores. If not remitting, the emigrated Punjabis used to come on a long holiday.
