Providing much awaited relief to the Indian farmers, Finance Minister P Chidambaram announced debt waiver scheme and relief to farmers, besides waiving agriculture loans disbursed by rural banks, RRBs and Cooperative banks before March 2007 and overdue on December 2007. He also announced overdue agriculture loans amounting to Rs 50,000 crore under the waiver and 10,000 crore under the OTS.
