Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party for criticizing the central government for bluntly rejecting the Standard & Poor's (S&P) report on India's possible downgrade, Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari has hit back at the former saying that the ratings were only an opinion of the agency. Meanwhile, BJP leader Yeshwant Sinha stated that there was a lack of trust in the government in the event of the economic slowdown in the country. Union corporate affairs minister Veerappa Moily, on the other hand, discarded the report saying that a rating agency was not apt enough to rate a huge economy like India.
