Samjhauta Express blast case: Key accused sent to 14-day judicial custody

Key accused in the Samjhauta Express blast case, Rajender Choudhary has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a special Chandigarh court on Saturday. Chaudhary was also transferred into the custody of the Mumbai police for his suspected involvement in blasts in Malegaon. However, Chaudhary's lawyers have filed an application demanding a psychiatric evaluation and accused of mental torture on the suspect. The case pertains to the criminal conspiracy, which resulted in bomb blasts in the Samjhauta Express train near Panipat, Haryana on February 18, 2007. The blast and the consequent fire in the train coaches resulted in the loss of 68 lives and injuries to 12 train passengers including women and children travelling in the train.
