Second phase of polls in Assam peaceful: EC

Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Shukla at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday confirmed that the second phase of assembly polls in Assam was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere. Further he informed that out of a total number of 96,77,113 voters who participated in the second phase, the turnout happened to be around 65 percent. The EC official also said that out of 12,589 polling stations though four were marred by some sort of violence, the polling went on uninterrupted.
