The government in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh has declared a five-day vacation for students up to the eighth grade, due to high temperatures and lack of rains. The temperature in Shimla has crossed 30 degrees, which may be low compared to other parts of the country but for this Himalayan town, it is comparatively higher. Education minister of the state, IK Dhiman, said that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the soaring temperature.
