Tamil Nadu bans mechanised fishing for 45 days

Tamil Nadu has imposed a forty-five day ban on mechanised fishing along its coastal areas during breeding season. The ban will be enforced separately in two different phases along the eastern and western coasts during the breeding season for fishes. The ban on mechanized fishing is enforced annually to protect marine life during the breeding season.
