Tamil Nadu government rejected the demand for the release of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassin, Nalini Sriharan, who has spent 19 years in jail. The Prison Advisory Board (PAB) constituted by the state government turned down the appeal at Chennai. The PAB came up with eight counts as to why she should not be released. Consequently, the state government accepted the observations of the PAB and passed on its decision to Madras High Court as well.
