Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as Haryana CM, ending BJP’s alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). The entire Haryana cabinet also resigned along with Khattar. The BJP-JJP alliance broke after differences over seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP currently has 41 MLAs in the 90-member assembly, but the party is reportedly confident of forming a new government with the support of independents. Khattar’s resignation came amid buzz of him contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Karnal. BJP’s Haryana chief Naib Singh Saini may replace Khattar as new CM, party insiders told Hindustan Times.
