Macron, Sunak back India's UNSC bid; France and UK laud India as emerging power

France and the United Kingdom have batted for India’s candidature for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). While France has underlined the need to take into account the emergence of new powers willing and able to assume the responsibility of a permanent presence in the powerful world body, Britain said the decision will help UNSC to respond decisively to threats to international peace and security.
