Ayodhya gears up to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, with traditional fervour. Earthen lamps were lit up on the bank of Saryu river as part of Deepotsav celebrations. Uttar Pradesh govt organised Deepotsav, the festival of lamps, at Ram ki Paidi ghats. According to a government statement, a total of 12 lakh lamps were illuminated on the occasion. Nine lakh lamps were lit on the banks of the river with the remaining three lakh in parts of the town. On the occasion, a grand laser show with colourful lights was organised in the temple town. The 3D laser show based on Ramayana was organised by the tourism department at Ram ki Paidi. A fireworks show was also arranged from Naya Ghat as part of celebrations on the eve of Diwali. Administration has made extensive security arrangements in view of five-day-long celebrations. SIT commandos, PAC force & Rapid Action Force jawans have been deployed to ensure security. Drones will be used to keep an eye on the event & ensure that there's no chaos at the site. Last year, over six lakh earthen lamps were lit during Deepotsav, creating a world record.
