'Gender inequality challenges need to be met societally': Smriti Irani

Smriti Irani spoke against gender inequality while addressing a virtual event in Delhi. The Union Minister said girls get less financial support for competitive exams than boys. Irani was speaking about ‘Women Power in Democracy' at Indian Institute of Mass Communication. “Girls don't get much financial support as compared to boys for competitive exams. The bias begins when a girl child is given a kitchen set or dolls to play with. A boy child is given a toy truck or lego set where he will learn how to build. These kinds of challenges are to be met societally and immediately,” Irani said. The union minister delivered the ‘Friday Dialogue’ at IIMC in presence of director Sanjay Dwivedi. The address was a virtual interactive session where the minister also took questions.
