In a first, the Centre has sent a team to Kabul to officially engage with the Taliban leadership since the withdrawal of the U.S last year in August. The Indian delegation is comprised of Joint Secretary of the MEA, JP Singh, who heads the Pak-Afghan-Iran desk at the ministry. The Indian team will hold talks with the senior leadership of the Taliban and will also oversee the delivery operations of India's humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
