A US military C-17A Globemaster III reportedly landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on August 25, triggering speculation over possible behind-the-scenes contact between Washington and Moscow. Flight-tracking data cited by Russian media reportedly showed the aircraft departing the Washington area, stopping in Latvia and later travelling to Moscow. The unusual flight came a day after US President Donald Trump sent Ukraine Independence Day greetings, reaffirming Washington’s support for Kyiv and calling for an end to the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Trump for his message. The Kremlin later said it had no information about the aircraft or any planned US administration meeting.
