Why Nitin Gadkari rejected a Reliance tender as Maharashtra state minister

Recalling his stint as the PWD in Maharashtra, Nitin Gadkari said he rejected a tender submitted by Reliance. The Union Minister said it not only upset Dhirubhai Ambani but also then CM Manohar Joshi & Balasaheb Thackeray. He was speaking at the National Conference on Investment Opportunities in Highway, Transport, and Logistics. Gadkari said, “As a state minister in 1995 in Maharashtra, I rejected a tender by Reliance for the Mumbai-Pune express highway. Dhirubhai (Ambani), my chief minister, Balasaheb Thackeray were upset with me. I said I will raise money from the public for that project and others like the Bandra-Worli Sea link.” Watch the full video for more.
