Donald Trump revealed on November 18 that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called him and asked him to lift U.S. sanctions on Syria, during a joint press briefing in Washington. Trump said the request came because MBS “wants to see Syria make it,” noting that Syria’s leader had recently visited the White House. Trump added that Turkish President Erdogan also urged him to remove sanctions, saying Syria had “no chance” otherwise.
