One proposal allegedly involves Gulf Arab states funding as much as 300 billion dollars in long-term Iranian reconstruction and investment projects, while another would see Qatar release frozen Iranian funds under tightly controlled U.S.-approved mechanisms. The money would reportedly be used for medicines, industrial feedstock, and essential goods rather than unrestricted transfers. The discussions come as Trump seeks a diplomatic breakthrough with Iran while avoiding comparisons to the Obama-era “pallets of cash” controversy surrounding the 2015 nuclear deal.
