First US fatality in Caribbean? Troubles mount amid Iran war prep as fatalities & crashes hit fleet

A 21-year-old U.S. Marine has become the first American fatality linked to President Donald Trump’s military operation in the Caribbean, after falling overboard from the USS Iwo Jima during deployment and being declared dead following a massive three-day search. Lance Cpl. Chukwuemeka E. Oforah, an infantry rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines out of Camp Lejeune and deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, vanished at sea on February 7, casting a sombre shadow over the high-profile mission that earlier saw Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro captured and flown via helicopter to the Iwo Jima before his transfer to the United States.
