Senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri was killed on Tuesday night in an Israeli drone strike on Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahiyeh, a stronghold of allied Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, three security sources told Reuters. Arouri is the first top Hamas leader to have been assassinated by Hamas since October 7 when the militant group struck Israeli towns and killed around 1200 Israelis, leading to a full-fledged war in Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
