Watch | Penguin travels every year to meet the savior

The unlikely friendship between Joao Pereira and the penguin started back in 2011, when Joao, found the South American penguin covered in oil near his home.He discovered the tiny Dimdim ,a name he later christened the penguin with, floundering on the rocks, starving and coated in oil. Joao took the bird in and removed the black residue from its feathers and nursed him back to health. Biologist, Joao Paulo Krajewski, who interviewed Joao Pereira for a local TV channel, said he believed the penguin thinks Joao is part of his family and probably a penguin too.
