FBI Director Kash Patel on Friday said that the agency thwarted a "potential terrorist attack" planned in the state of Michigan on Halloween weekend.

Without giving exact details, Patel wrote on X that FBI agents arrested “multiple subjects” who were plotting a “violent attack”.

"This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend," Patel said in a post on X.

The FBI director said more details about the alleged plot would be released later.

Meanwhile, the police department in Detroit's Dearborn city, said that the FBI had conducted operations in Dearborn early Friday. "We want to assure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time," it said.

According to AFP, FBI agents were spotted searching homes in the Dearborn area on Friday morning.
