Nepal floods LIVE: A bus carrying people evacuated from flood-hit Rasuwa crashed in Danda, east of Nawalparasi, while travelling from Kathmandu to Bardiya in southwestern Nepal, according to Nepal's National News Committee.

Thirty-two of the 38 passengers on board were injured in the crash, the outlet reported.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Pandit of the Nawalpur East District Police Office said 27 of the injured passengers have been discharged after receiving treatment, while five remain in hospital.

Nepal floods LIVE: At least 800 people have been killed in the flash floods which hit Nepal on Wednesday this week, while another more than 3,000 remain missing in Nepal and Tibet, the Associated Press reported citing officials.

Nepal floods LIVE: In the wake of catastrophic flash floods in Nepal, the names of 13 individuals from Andhra Pradesh are being verified against official missing-person records compiled by the Nepal Police and the Indian Embassy, Andhra Pradesh Bhavan said on Sunday.

The AP Bhavan in Delhi is coordinating with the concerned authorities for the verification, identification and tracking of the missing persons.

Meanwhile, around 145 Telugu pilgrims have reached the Kodari border area and are completing immigration formalities to enter Nepal.

Four pilgrims from the group remain in regular contact with the AP Bhavan Emergency Control Room, which is providing necessary assistance and coordinating arrangements for their safe onward journey.

Nepal floods LIVE: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday said 149 Indian nationals have been rescued in Nepal.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the update on social media and posted a list containing the names of the 149 rescued Indian nationals.

Nepal floods LIVE: Five-year-old Ishara Tamang lies injured in a hospital in Kathmandu, separated from her family after surviving the devastating flash floods that struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district along the Nepal-Tibet border.

Ishara was rescued from the floodwaters in Khalte village after becoming trapped in a net, the Onlinekhabar news portal reported. Recounting the ordeal to hospital staff, she said her mother was swept away before she jumped and moved forward, eventually becoming caught in the net.

Chitwan recorded the highest number of fatalities at 264, followed by Nawalparasi East with 194, Nawalparasi West with 120, Gorkha with 58, Nuwakot with 52, Dhading with 50, Tanahun with 37 and Rasuwa with 13.

Earlier, Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said 2,502 people remained missing as of 1 PM on Sunday.

Nepal floods LIVE: As many as 537 workers and employees remain unaccounted for at nine hydropower projects in Nepal’s flood-hit Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, with rescue teams stepping up efforts to reach people believed to be trapped inside tunnels blocked by mud and debris.

Rescue operations have been hampered by blocked tunnel entrances, damaged infrastructure, difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Nepal has sought specialised assistance from India, China and other countries to support the rescue efforts.

According to the Independent Power Producers’ Association in Nepal (IPPAN), 898 workers and employees at the nine hydropower projects were initially reported out of contact following the floods on August 26.

Nepal floods LIVE: India has sent a forensic team to Nepal to help analyse DNA samples and identify the mortal remains of victims of the recent flash floods.

According to the ministry of external affairs, Indian ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava met the Indian forensic team deployed in the flood-hit country.

India has also sent relief supplies to the neighbouring country, while Nepal has sought further assistance with forensic laboratories and rapid DNA analysis to help identify the bodies recovered after the flash floods devastated the country.

Nepal floods LIVE: The United States has provided humanitarian assistance worth more than USD 3.6 million to people affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, including emergency food support for up to 10,000 households, the US Embassy in Kathmandu said on Sunday.

"There is no higher priority for us than the safety of American citizens. Our embassies in Nepal and China are working closely to assist Americans and support disaster relief efforts," the embassy said in a post on X.

"The United States is standing with the people of Nepal by providing more than USD 3.6 million worth of life-saving humanitarian assistance, including up to three months of emergency food assistance to up to 10,000 flood-affected households," it said.

Nepal floods LIVE: India's ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement that the Indian forensic team has been deployed to Nepal to help their counterparts in identifying flash flood victims.

“Ambassador Naveen Srivastava met members of the Indian Forensic Team deployed to Nepal. The team will work alongside their Nepali counterparts in analysing DNA samples to assist in identifying the mortal remains of the victims of the recent flash floods,” he said.

Nepal floods LIVE: Nepal's foreign affairs minister, Shisir Khanal, on Sunday said four Indian flights carrying relief supplies had reached Nepal, as rescue teams saved more than 4,000 people over the past three days.

Speaking to ANI, Khanal said, "The government is making every possible effort for rescue. We are still in the rescue stage. I have personally just arrived and am yet to receive full field-level briefings. Over the last three days, we have rescued more than 4,000 individuals. More than 600 people have been found dead, and active rescue operations are underway."

"We are extremely grateful for the support that the Government of India has already provided to us. Four different flights have arrived in Nepal with relief supplies," he said.

Nepal floods LIVE: A 20-minute delay at a Buddha temple saved their lives -- a realisation that brought tears and a sense of disbelief to a 31-member group of Keralites who returned safely to the state on Sunday after being stranded in flash flood-hit Nepal.

"Around 20-25 minutes we spent at a Buddha temple at the request of the women in our group helped save us from the tragedy," one of the men told news agency PTI.

Nepal floods LIVE: The water levels in the Bhotekoshi River rose again on Sunday, days after a devastating flash flood struck Nepal, authorities warned, urging residents and rescue personnel in flood-hit districts to remain alert.

In a statement, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) warned that water levels in the river had risen again.

"The water level in the flooded Bhotekoshi River has risen to some extent; all concerned are urged to take precautionary measures," the NDRRMA said on Sunday.

Nepal flash flood live updates: About 100 of the nearly 319 individuals who travelled from Tamil Nadu through to Nepal were still untraceable and missing following the flash floods there, state minister A Rajmohan has said.

As many as 219 persons are safe and secure, the minister for information added.

Nepal flash flood live updates: China on Sunday said 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries were missing on the Tibetan side of a border crossing with Nepal following a mudslide which tore through the Himalayan region, while the death toll in Tibet has reached 16 people.

Officials from China's Tibet Autonomous Region said at a press conference that the highest number of missing foreigners was from Nepal at 104, while 49 Indian, 33 Latvian, 18 American and 15 British citizens were also unaccounted for. They said authorities in Beijing have notified foreign missions.

The nationality breakdown was the first from the Chinese side since the collapse of a glacier on Wednesday unleashed a torrent of ice, rock, mud and debris down Himalayan rivers.

Authorities said 16 people had died in Gyirong County as of Saturday evening and that 546 were missing.

Nepal flash flood live updates: More than 100 workers are believed to be trapped inside multiple hydropower tunnels.

The Nepali army inserted a pipe into one of the tunnels at the Trishuli 3A hydroelectric site late on Saturday and started sending air through it, Minister Sudan Gurung said.

But overnight rain and rising river waters hampered rescue efforts at that site, and Nepal's disaster authorities urged rescue teams on Sunday to exercise caution.

Those trapped were among 933 missing workers from hydropower projects on the rivers where the torrent of icy debris swept down.

India, which has extensive experience in such rescues, has sent an 11-person specialised team. China has also sent a nine-person tunnel team to help.

According to the latest update issued by NDRRMA as of 9 am, Chitwan reported the highest number of recovered bodies at 259, including human body parts, followed by Nawalparasi East with 184, Nawalparasi West with 82, Gorkha with 58, Nuwakot with 52, Dhading with 50, Tanahun with 36 and Rasuwa with 13.

"It consists of a tunnel technical contingent along with equipment for search & rescue operations; a team of forensics experts for DNA analysis and relief supplies, including blankets, sleeping bags, tarpaulin, plastic sheets & hygiene kits," the MEA said.

An 11-member Indian technical team comprising doctors, paramedics and tunnel engineers had arrived in Kathmandu on Friday and carried out an on-site reconnaissance of hydropower tunnels in the flood-affected Trishuli area of Nuwakot district on Saturday, the embassy said.
