Kaori Patterson-Moore: 7-month-old shot in New York identified; NYPD releases photos of 2 suspects
Seven-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore was fatally shot in NYC; police released suspect photos. One suspect in custody, one still at large, NYPD said.
The seven-month-old baby shot dead in Brooklyn, New York City on Wednesday has been identified as Kaori Patterson-Moore. The New York Police Department has released photos of the two suspects, with one in custody while the search for the other continues.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch identified the deceased baby as Kaori Patterson-Moore. Tisch suggested that the 7-month-old was hit by what appeared to be a stray bullet. The baby was on a stroller on the Moore and Humboldt streets in the East Williamsburg region of Brooklyn around 1:15pm ET when shots were fired.
The mother of the baby, who took shelter at nearby bodega, noticed that the baby was bleeding and found out that she was shot in the head. The father of the baby took her to the hospital Woodhull Hospital in NYC where she was pronounced dead.
What We Know About The Suspects
According to Jessica Tisch, the suspect arrived at the street corner on a moped: while one of them rode it, the other opened fire from the rear seat. Tisch added that the first suspect has been held in an unrelated investigation, though the details of that remain unclear. Several adults and children were present in the Williamsburg area when the incident happened.
She revealed that the suspects struck a car two blocks from where the shooting took place. The suspects crashed their moped and fell off it, sustaining some injuries.

The rear seat passenger, appears to be the suspect, was taken to a hospital with injuries and is now in police custody. The other suspect escaped on foot.
Tisch said that a "massive manhunt" is underway for the other suspect. "Today our city suffered a horrifying, senseless tragedy: a 7-month-old child being pushed in a stroller along a busy Brooklyn sidewalk was shot and killed in broad daylight," Tisch added.
Mayor Mamdani Reacts To Shooting
Zohran Mamdani appeared alongside Jessica Tisch for a presser on the incident earlier on Wednesday. He called the tragedy a "devastating reminder" why there should be restrictions on gun laws- an agenda he has long pushed alongside his party, the Democratic Socialists.
"A life that had barely begun was taken in an instant," the NYC Mayor said. "There are no words that can mend the heartbreak this family is feeling now."
