The daycare in question was Brown Bear Childcare. The six other children at the daycare were unharmed and were safely evacuated, Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson confirmed. Describing it as a domestic incident, Chief Johnson said at a presser at 11:30am CDT that two adults and a child were found dead at the daycare.

Johnson added that the victims were the suspect, a man, his wife and a child. They were the owners of the daycare. The investigation into the deaths is ongoing with preliminary indications that it was a case of murder-suicide. The adult male reported killed both before killing himself.

“This is a horrific, tragic situation for any community, especially in Hopkins where we don’t see this type of crime,” Chief Johnson said. Later, police said that they believed that man killed a 74-year-old relative earlier.

No information regarding what sparked the stabbing was revealed. Local news reports added that the scene was secured and there is no threat.
