Tornado hits near Decatur, Illinois: Videos capture damage in Mount Zion
A tornado caused significant damage to multiple homes in the Illinois community of Mount Zion, located about eight miles southeast of Decatur.
UPDATE: A powerful tornado tore through the Illinois community of Mount Zion on Sunday afternoon, causing significant damage to multiple homes. Mount Zion is located about eight miles southeast of Decatur in Macon County.
According to WAND-TV, the Macon County Emergency Management Agency said a tornado briefly touched down near Blue Mound at around 3:05 p.m., followed by a second reported tornado about five minutes later in the Long Creek area.
Photos and videos shared on social media showed extensive damage across the community, including roofs torn off several homes, uprooted trees, and debris scattered across front yards. As of Sunday night, no injuries had been reported, according to officials.
