Josh Kushner is well recognized as the sibling of Jared Kushner, who is the son-in-law of Donald Trump, and as the spouse of the supermodel Karlie Kloss.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported that an ownership group spearheaded by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger is acquiring the NBA franchise, which is valued at $12 billion.
This development occurs less than a year after Mark Walter was formally recognized as the majority stakeholder of the Lakers.

Kushner wed the supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss in 2018.
According to a post by Kloss on X, she and Kushner first met in 2012 and were in a relationship for six years prior to their marriage.
They celebrated their union with two wedding ceremonies: a modest Jewish ceremony in upstate New York in 2018, followed by a lavish, Western-themed reception at a ranch in Wyoming in 2019.
Kushner and Kloss purchased Life magazine via their media venture, Bedford Media.
Kloss, the CEO of the media group, stated that she and Kushner view the magazine as a positive and unifying presence in a tumultuous media environment.
He and Kloss have two sons and a daughter together - Levi, 5, Elijah, 2, and Rae, 9 months.
Jared Kushner, the brother of Kushner, wed Ivanka Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump, in 2009.
During Donald Trump's presidency, both Jared and Ivanka held positions as senior aides in the White House.
When Karlie Kloss opened up about dynamics with Trump family
In a July 1 interview with Bloomberg Originals, Kloss discussed how she manages the political dynamics within her well-known family.
“Well, I know who I am,” Kloss told the outlet. “I know the values that guide my life and the issues that I care about. So, you know, I haven’t lost sight of who I am, but also, it’s my husband’s family.”
Kloss, who was raised in Missouri and identifies as a Democrat, stated that she has consistently been exposed to a variety of perspectives.
“We’re sitting here in St. Louis, which is a blue dot in a red state,” the 33-year-old model said. “Since as long as I can remember, I’ve always been exposed to a lot of different political points of view, and I think that trained me for my life. You know, I’m a Democrat.”
When inquired whether she and President Trump have ever engaged in political discussions, Kloss disclosed that she has never encountered the president. “I have never met President Trump,” she said.
In 2021, Kloss communicated with a fan on X (formerly Twitter), stating that she had "tried" to engage in a conversation about Joe Biden's 2020 election with Jared and Ivanka. However, the post seems to have been removed since then.
