Anna Chapman, the glamorous spy deported from the US along with nine others, is to become a leader of a youth wing of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin-led United Russia political party, a media report said. A 28-year-old Chapman, who was expelled from the US in a historic spy swap in June, is to be appointed at a congress of Molodaya Gvardiya(Young Guard) in Moscow, Britain's The Daily Telegraph quoted sources as telling the Russian media.

Chapman's role in the pro-Putin youth organisation will involve working with "patriots and young businesspeople", the report said. "Chapman will become the head of one of the new governing bodies of Molodaya Gvardiya," a source in the organisation was quoted as saying.
Prime Minister Putin rallied to the defence of Chapman and the nine other Russian spies after they were expelled from the US and had promised them all "important" work in their homeland.
Chapman, who ran a real estate business in New York as cover for her real role in Russia's foreign intelligence service, had attended the same technology forum as Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last week.
