Saleem Hussain, the Managing Director of Liberty Books — official distributor of the book — said, “The sales have been very good.”
Hussain, whose bookstore is the largest in Pakistan, was quick to add “the new perspective on Mr Jinnah has been appreciated by Pakistani readers.”
Over 2,000 copies have been sold so far. Hussain said the book has been on the shelves in all major cities of Pakistan and almost at every store, but stocks have run out.
The books are coming to Pakistan both through the overland route for Lahore and by air for Karachi.
“People started to take notice after the episode (the Jaswant’s expulsion) and started asking when the book would be available in Pakistan,” said Hussain.
The book, sold for Rs 1,395, is set to become one of the country's high selling English language books if present sales persist in the coming months.
The Liberty Books chief said that he was afraid that the shortage in supply would encourage pirated editions to flood the market.
