Lawyers had opposed him when he had sacked the chief justice of Pakistan, which was one of the factors that led to his eventual exit.

On Friday, the high court accepted Musharraf’s application to extend his interim bail for up to 21 days. He was also granted pre-arrest bail for 21 days in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf announced that he would be contesting elections from four different constituencies.
