Taiwan hit by 6.4-magnitude quake

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit eastern Taiwan on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The quake struck 25 kilometres (15 miles) southeast of the eastern city of Hualien at 9:02 pm (1302 GMT), according to the USGS.
