Bling is King: If you are one of those who like to script their own fashion story, gold turban with a light grey summer coat and a black tee can be a fun look to wear to a summer wedding.

Guys, if you have always disregarded bling as if it’s some chintzy, showy stuff, it’s time to shed your prejudice. Bling is not a bad thing for men anymore! From those tough bomber jackets and sneakers to accessories, fashion items for men are getting a gilded makeover.

The trend popped up on the global runways with fashion bigwigs such as Saint Laurent, Balmain and Berluti presenting their take on bling. Popular fashion bloggers who are confidently breaking fashion rules have also popularised this trend.

Golden feat: London-based designer Jeetinder Sandhu rocks a pair of golden shoes designed by him. Teamed with dark blue jeans, a classic white shirt and a blue long coat, they add just the right amount of shine to his look.

However, pulling off this look with elan can be a tad tricky. “When going for bling, balance is the key. You need to style your outfit imaginatively so that your gold shines, but also does not look over-the-top,” says designer Nachiket Barve.

London-based designer Jeetinder Sandhu says that while an overtly blingy look will seem theatrical, (steer clear of gold pantsuits!) subtle inclusion in the form of gold shoes always works.

“Blinged out shoes for men can give an uber stylish look to a simple outfit. They’re also a great conversation starter at a party. They make dressing up a lot more fun for us as we don’t have as many options as women do,” says Sandhu.
