A day after stressing that anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare was being misled by forces opposed to social justice, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in a letter on Tuesday cautioned him against people who were misusing his clean image.

He also questioned Hazare’s hostility towards the Congress and his perceived proximity with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP.
“I respect you a lot ... But I feel you are surrounded by a group of people who have alway been opposed to the Congress ... They are using your clean image to meet their vested political interests and in the process you are taking steps that are against the values you have practised so far.”
Singh also referred to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s supportive efforts to curb corruption.
“The UPA government has never tried to save anyone involved in scams,” he said.
