All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday shot off a letter to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asking him to rise above party lines and ensure prompt arrest of local BJP leader Deependra Shrivastava, accused of killing trader Sanjay Jain.
Charging police of complicity, Singh said that case was registered against Shrivastava only after hundreds of people laid seize of the road and still six days after the incident, he was roaming free.
Asking the chief minister to ensure prompt arrest of the accused to salvage the image of his government, Singh said that vandalism in MP was on the rise and complicity or connivance of administration and government with gunda elements was one major reason for it. Singh had also visited the residence of Jain during his recent visit to the state capital.
