A police team seized the body after getting information from a passerby. The police said the woman was about 35 years old. Town inspector (TI) Chhola Mandir, Mohan Sarwan, said the body was about four days old and had decomposed completely. Sarwan said the injuries could not be confirmed as the body had swelled. He added that the reason of her death will be established only after the post-mortem report is released.

The police have sent a radio message to all police stations of the city and neighbouring districts regarding the body. "We have sought information about missing women from all the police stations of the city and nearby districts to ascertain the identity of the woman," said Sarwan.
