Actor Katrina Kaif has been confirmed for Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar and director Rohit Shetty’s next. Akshay took to Twitter to share the news. He wrote: “Welcome to our COP UNIVERSE #KatrinaKaif...OUR SOORYAVANSHI GIRL.” In the picture, Akshay, Katrina, Rohit and Karan Johar can be seen standing together.

This comes after days of speculation that Katrina and Akshay will be seen together again in Rohit’s film. Their last film was Tees Maar Khan though they appeared briefly in Bombay Talkies.

Akshay and Rohit have been pumped up about the film. Akshay even featured in a cameo in Simmba. Together, Rohit Shetty with Akshay, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh intend to create a cop universe. Post the release of Simmba, Akshay had teased the first-look poster of the film along with the caption: “A bullet for a bullet! Get ready for #RohitShetty’s #Sooryavanshi on Eid 2020. Action-packed, masala intact!”

The film, which will be produced by Karan, is scheduled to release in 2020. Katrina has finished shooting for Salman Khan starrer Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film will release on Eid this year. Akshay, meanwhile, has completed shooting for the comedy, Good News, with Kareena Kapoor. The film also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.

Akshay will also be seen in a series on Amazon Prime. Sometime back, he made the announcement at an event, literally putting himself on fire. Akshay’s last film Kesari has become a mega hit. Katrina’s last film, Zero, turned out to be a dud at the box office. However, Katrina’s work as a failed and troubled actor was appreciated.
