Raj Kummar Rao survived on daily diet of a carrot and a coffee for next film
Actor Raj Kummar Rao, who will be seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s next film, followed an unbelievable diet for his role. The actor lost weight by surviving on one carrot and one coffee a day. He carried out the diet for over 25 days.
Raj Kummar Rao believes in preparing for his parts — be it diction, body language or the look — and his method acting has earned him much praise. But the National Award winner took things to the next level while preparing for his next film.

The actor apparently lost 7kg in 22 days by surviving on just one carrot and coffee every day to look malnourished for his role in a survival drama directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Talking about this extreme diet, Raj Kummar says, “It was a part of my preparation for the role of a man trapped inside a house for three weeks without any food or water. I wanted to feel the hunger and desperation that one goes through if they’re put in such extreme conditions.”
The actor says he struggled constantly to fight the hunger. He adds, “I’ve realised that we always take everything in our lives for granted. What if you have to go without food or water for days at a stretch? How will you survive? It was quite a struggle to be on such a strict diet. You get severe mood swings and your energy levels go down, but I guess that is the fun of being an actor. You get to do things that you can’t do otherwise.”
Raj Kummar is aware of the repercussions such diets can have on one’s health, but he is also glad that there weren’t many severe side-effects. “I guess, water is really more important than food. I had a couple of black outs and body cramps during the process,” he adds.
The actor was last seen on screen in Aligarh co-starring Manoj Bajpai and Hamari Adhuri Kahani.
