Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore feels that despite technological growth and huge budgets, the real India is not depicted in current films much. “Although contemporary films have improved in production, I often find there is a disconnect between India as it exists today and what is shown,” she said at the inauguration of the Kolkata Film Festival. “There is a need for imagination and insight. I hope the emerging directors will engage with the world and its new challenges,” she said.
