Ram Gopal Varma, who has been struggling to find his lost form in Bollywood for some time, is relying heavily on Amitabh Bachchan’s charisma to rise and shine again.

Sarkar 3 will hit the screens on April 7, 2017.

The trailer of Sarkar 3, the third film in the Sarkar franchise that started in 2005, is all about the return of Subhash Nagre (Amitabh Bachchan), who has already lost his sons, Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon) and Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan).

To set the tone right, Varma has used a similar background score and lighting to that of the first two films. Of course, Subhash Nagre’s get-up will also be the same.

He has also brought in some top actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy and Jackie Shroff to flesh out his screenplay effectively. If Bajpayee is playing an idealist rebel in the film, Ronit Roy will be replacing Chander (Ravi Kale) as Sarkar’s most trusted ally.

Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam are also in the film and they are expected to carry the Sarkar legacy forward.

However, the most striking thing about this trailer is its announcement that Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in an angrier, meaner avatar. In fact, he says that he hasn’t changed over the years.

But all said and done, Sarkar 3 is probably Varma’s last shot to reclaim his space in Bollywood as the most sought after noir filmmaker.
