Sonam Kapoor impresses the governor of Victoria

Sonam Kapoor won the Best Actress Award for Neerja at IFFM. She was invited for a special lunch by the governor of Victoria, Linda Dessau.

Sonam Kapoor (left) attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on August 12. Her much-acclaimed film Neerja was screened at the Australian festival. Sonam also received the Best Actress award for her performance. Apart from being honoured at the event, she was invited for a special lunch by the governor of Victoria (a state in Australia) — Linda Dessau. She is the first woman to hold the office.

Being a strong supporter of women’s empowerment, the governor of Victoria, Linda Dessau, had heard great things about Sonam Kapoor and her strong views on gender issues.

A source close to the actor says, “Sonam met Dessau before attending the awards ceremony. Being a strong supporter of women’s empowerment, the governor had heard great things about Sonam and her strong views on gender issues.”
