Soorma celeb review: Sachin Tendulkar watches Diljit Dosanjh film with daughter Sara, calls it inspiring

After watching Soorma, Bollywood celebs applauded Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu for their performance and many had a special commendation for Angad Bedi.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma, in which he essays the real life character hockey player Sandeep Singh, will hit the theatres on Friday and the makers decided to hold a special screening for Bollywood celebs in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Among those invited was cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and his daughter Sara. Now, the reactions to the film are in and celebs cannot be more congratulatory.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma has received a lot of love from Bollywood fans and sportspersons alike.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar tweeted soon after he watched the film, “A real story portrayed beautifully on reel. @flickersingh’s determination to play for India is truly commendable, enjoyed watching #Soorma a lot. My best wishes to the entire cast and crew. @imangadbedi @diljitdosanjh @taapsee,” wrote Tendulkar. In a video, he said, “Fantastic movie, really inspiring, We all follow hockey but something like this had happened to Sandeep and I did not know.Shaad, Diljit, Angad, everyone has done a brilliant job. This is extremely inspiring, not just for sports but for everyone. It clearly portrays that ‘never say die’ attitude and standing back on your foot.”

Soon after watching Soorma, Shabana Azmi tweeted, “@ShaadAli @IChitrangda What a lovely heartwarming film #Soorma is. @Sdaljeets is adorable in the title role. Shaad Ali handles the beautiful story with warmth and sensitivity. @Angadbedi1987 is endearing and is Ably supported by Tapsee Panu and @satishkaushik2.Go watch it.”

Divya Dutta was also quite prompt in showering her love on the film. “#soorma is an amazingly inspiring film!! Taut script, nuanced.. emotional as well as breezy.. this one is a must watch!!! Congrats @SnehaRajani @shaadesh @IChitrangda !! It is beautiful... and @diljitdosanjh you are so so endearing.@Imangadbedi @tapseepannu , so sincere!!”, she wrote.

Filmmaker Milap ZaverI and Sresh Triveni also saw and appreciated the film.

“Watched #Soorma last night Didn’t know details about the actual story of Sandeep Singh and was blown away by his stirring comeback from a freak accident. And so wonderful to watch the steady rise and rise of @Imangadbedi Fine actor and an even nicer human being,” producer Atul Kasbekar tweeted.

Former cricketer Ravi Shashtri also showered his blessings: “India has a great legacy of legends who have fought battles and made it big. Here’s a story of one such hockey legend #SandeepSingh @Flicker_Singh! @SnehaRajani @sonypicsprodns @DiljitDosanjh, @taapsee and @imangadbedi Good luck for #Soorma!”

Sandeep Singh, the man who brought India gold at the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament after 13 long years, is regarded as the most impressive drag-flickers of all time with drag speed of over 145 km/hr, which led to his nickname, ‘Flicker Singh’.

Also featuring Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in an important role, Soorma is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh. The film releases July 13.
