Tiger Shroff to start shooting for Hindi adaptation of Rambo from January next year
Actor Tiger Shroff will start shooting for the Hindi adaptation of Sylvester Stallone’s Hollywood cult classic Rambo in January 2020.
Actor Tiger Shroff, who just saw the release of the film Student of the Year 2, has three more films in his kitty. The actor will begin shooting for Baaghi 3 in July and will film the Hindi adaptation of Sylvester Stallone’s cult classic Rambo in January next year.
The Rambo remake will be directed by Siddharth Anand of Bang Bang fame, who is currently directing Tiger and Hrithik in another film. Confirming the release date of the film, Siddharth told Mumbai Mirror in a report, “After I complete my current film with Tiger and Hrithik Roshan, I will start prepping for Rambo from September. Tiger will begin his prep from November-December and we will set the ball rolling in the new year, shooting both in India and abroad. The recce will begin soon. We have already locked a release date, October 2, 2020.”
Talking about the theme of the film, he added, “Rambo is primarily known for its action, but I can promise you that in my film, the story will resonate too with our audience. It’s a story that needs to be told, given the present political dynamics in the country. Of course, the action will be big but like Steven Spielberg once said,’if it’s action without emotions the audience watches dispassionately’. So, the emotions need to be in sync with the action.”
Meanwhile, Tiger’s Student of the Year 2 is running in the movie theatres to an average response. The film opened at Rs 12 crore and has collected Rs 57 crore at the domestic box office. Sharing the collections of the film, Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “#StudentOfTheYear2 Fri 12.06 cr, Sat 14.02 cr, Sun 12.75 cr, Mon 5.52 cr, Tue 5.02 cr, Wed 4.51 cr, Thu 4.02 cr. Total: ₹ 57.90 cr. India biz. #SOTY2.” He added, “#StudentOfTheYear2 underperforms... Biz was steady on weekdays, but *Week 1* total should’ve been much, much higher thanks to Tiger’s star power, #SOTY franchise and 3000+ screen count... In fact, #SOTY2 *Week 1* is lower than Tiger’s #Baaghi .”
He also compared the film with the response to the actor’s earlier releases. “Tiger Shroff versus Tiger Shroff... Top 3 *Week 1* biz...2016: #Baaghi ₹ 59.72 cr 2018: #Baaghi2 ₹ 112.85 cr 2019: #SOTY2 ₹ 57.90 cr Fresh and big competition arrives today [#DeDePyaarDe and #JohnWick: Chapter 3]... #SOTY2 *Weekend 2* is extremely crucial.
