The Indian currency continued its downward march and fell by 18 paise to 45.71 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday following increased demand from importers and oil refiners for the greenback.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market, rupee which closed at 45.57/58 against the dollar on Thursday plunged by another 18 paise to 45.71.
The rupee also remained under pressure because of bearish equity markets and consistent capital outflows. The Indian benchmark Sensex moved down by 30.98 points at 1015 hrs on Friday.
