A spokesperson from the chief minister’s office said, Badal exhorted leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ensure the success of the function.

“The government has made arrangements to get over 1 lakh people to participate in the function and over 3,000 buses will be deployed to ferry these people,” the spokesperson added.

“The mega event marks the completion of 350 years of Sri Anandpur Sahib — the city of bliss. This was founded by ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur in 1665. The city is also the birthplace of Khalsa in 1699,” the spokesperson added.

Badal said in a statement that the celebrations from June 17-19 were meant to pay glorious tributes to the legacy of this town in a befitting manner.

“This event will be even special this year as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union ministers and chief ministers will be taking part in this function on June 19,” the CM added.

The chief minister has deputed education and SAD secretary Daljit Singh Cheema and his special principal secretary KJS Cheema to supervise the arrangements and ensure a comfortable stay for all arriving in the city during the celebrations.
