Olympics silver medallist Vijay Kumar promoted as Subedar Major

Indian army has promoted Olympics silver medallist Vijay Kumar as Subedar Major. HT had highlighted that Kumar was unhappy with the fact that he had not got any promotion in last few years.

Indian army has promoted Olympics silver medallist Vijay Kumar as Subedar Major.

After he won his medal at London, Kumar had expressed that he was unhappy because he had not been promoted in last six years, despite some major sporting achievements at the national and international level.

Following which, sports minister Ajay Maken wrote to defence minister AK Antony, requesting special consideration for a man who has done the country proud.
