The UT police had registered a DDR (daily diary report) against the PYC leaders for violating Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which bars the assembly of more than five persons for holding a protest demonstration.

Though the PYC leaders did not opt for bail, the police released them at midnight on Wednesday at Mullanpur village, near here.

The PYC had held a protest demonstration against the SAD-BJP government for allegedly shielding murderers of Sukhraj Singh, who was the Congress candidate in the recent block samiti elections from Patti (Tarn Taran).
