Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said on Monday that a screening of the Vivek Agnihotri-directed film The Kashmir Files is to be made for Karnataka legislators.
This comes after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made the movie tax free on Sunday. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh governments have also decided to free the movie from tax.
"An opportunity has been made for all of us (legislators) to watch the cinema 'The Kashmir Files', tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at 6.45 pm at screen number 6 of Mantri Mall, all should make use of this opportunity," Kageri said.
He said, "the government has already made it tax free, I compliment the government. It will be good if all of us watch it together."
BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal also announced that he will fund one show of the movie per day for a week so that more people can watch it free of cost.
The Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty-starrer depicts the mass killings and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir valley by Pakistan-backed terrorists after 1989. The film also stars Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi, among others.
